The Perfect Purse on Pink Saturday 5/8/10

Another Pink Saturday hosted by Beverly at How Sweet The Sound. Go visit her to see all the participants this week. For new chicks I've visited last week: Suzanne at The Shabby Tiara and Chloe Patricia at MaMercerie. Both cute blogs.

Let me tell you about my purse experience recently.

Hubby and I were at Macys and I saw a little purse I thought I'd buy. I generally don't buy too much leather anymore because it's so heavy when loaded with all we women need. But it was a Fossil and it was cute. Need I say more? The sales woman told me it was going to be on sale soon but I had to take my chances that it would be there when it went on sale so I bought it. She also said I probably wouldn't get the sale price if I returned it the day of the sale. What??!! Well, just a few days later it was on sale but I hadn't used it so I bought a second one at the sale price to make sure I'd have it. These purses go fast! So I had 2 of the same purse. I was going to return the original one and get my full purchase price money back.

But after trying to fit my essentials into it there wasn't enough room. So now I had 2 purses to take back. I did get my money back, but still trying to find a purse that would suit me. It had to have a strap to go over my head and shoulder because I like to shop hands-free. I didn't particularly want another leather purse as I have sooooo many packed away. I used to splurge on purses when we lived in California.

Then I saw a purse that looked like it could be THE ONE. I looked at it over and over and lo and behold, it had every single thing I wanted in a purse—even the color was fuchsia pink!! Can we squeeeeeeeeal here?

First, it's pink and not too large with a long strap that can be tied short or left long for over my neck. Hands free shopping!! Yessssss. Pocket on front for quick items like tissues. And, this is essential to me, it had a zippered top. That way nothing will fall out. I'm very, very picky about the purses I carry. I don't want to lose anything in it!

Zippered back for car keys if necessary, but I keep them in my pocket most of the time because, having been robbed twice while living in California, I don't want my keys in the purse so they would have access to my house if perchance they did get my purse.

Pocket for cell phone and my glasses. I usually have 3 pairs with me—sunglasses of course, regular distance and reading since I can't read a label without them.

Inside back zippered pocket for a tin of excedrin and ibuprofen and lipstick. I'm a pit bull in lipstick, I tell ya. ;-) Plus you just never know when you or someone needs a headache pill.

Plus it's attractive from the front. Yes, it's leather and I'm so used to nylon bags that are sooooo lightweight that they hardly weight a few ounces, but I'll get used to the weight and it is evenly distributed over the neck.

But I did want to finish this little purse I've tried making lately. I just love its femininity and froufrou-y fabrics. It's adorable and it took me a long time to come up with this design. Well, at least to perfect it. I may just carry this one when I'm feeling very girly-girly! It's small at only 7" wide. Cute, huh?

And this scrap of fabric made a great flower pin for a jacket or dress. These take about 5 minutes to make! Rip and Glue! Easy, fun and decorative. It can even put them on a lamp shade!
